Webmaster Note: Long before the renovation of Ebbets Field in 1933 the look of the ballpark was dramatically different from the Ebbets Field we all came to know and love. The original plans of the ballpark had no double-deck grandstand in the outfield which ultimately gave Ebbets Field its bandbox reputation. Also absent was the famous right field scoreboard which featured the marquee ads of Abe Stark's "Hit Sign, Win Suit" and the Schaefer Beer sign. Another aspect absence from the ballpark prior to 1933 is the press boxes, and as a result the working press were given a few rows in the upper deck behind home plate.
